Leave it to the genius minds on California’s Central Coast to come up with a triathlon that not only embodies the healthy lifestyle embraced by many of the residents of San Luis Obispo County, but includes, along with the traditional swim, bike, and run, an opportunity to enjoy a weekend of athletics, live music, good food, and fun—that includes wine tasting, too.

The Wildflower Triathlon draws world renowned athletes from all over the world who come to compete in the Olympic Distance events. They bring their A games, but like everyone else—competitors and spectators alike—they come for the scenic beauty of the rolling hills and the festival atmosphere and camaraderie built through competition. Unlike any other triathlon, Wildflower has a unique feel and vibe that many Central Coast visitors liken to that of the famous Woodstock music festival.

The triathlon includes a Sprint Distance and Long Course, along with the Olympic Distance. People of all ages come to compete and it’s a popular event for local college athletes and those throughout Paso Robles, Templeton,Atascadero and the surrounding towns who are dedicated to living a fit and healthy lifestyle.

This year’s triathlon features the live music of the Shawn Clark Family Band, Turkey Buzzards, Nataly Lola, and Bear Market Riot. In addition to live music, participants can enjoy wine tasting, a beer garden, movies under the stars, good food, and hanging out and meeting new people.

San Luis Obispo County residents enjoy an active lifestyle and regularly participate in hiking, biking, surfing, camping, and exploring the land.
