It's no wonder that for most people, buying real estate on California's Central Coast is a dream come true. Whether they're buying a home with views of the rolling vineyard properties of Paso Robles or the hills of San Luis Obispo, life on California's Central Coast offers more beautiful views, spectacular weather, and a chance to live a unique and fulfilling lifestyle. While there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, one of the most popular activities, for both young and old, is surfing and San Luis Obispo is well-known for its laid back and casual surfer lifestyle.

On any given day, on any one of our beaches, the weather is perfect for kicking back and watching the surfers paddle out in hopes of riding a few waves back in. Once a year, it's easy to enjoy an almost week long surf fix whenThe Wine, Waves, and Beyondfestival rolls into town. While it's a great chance to embody the surfer lifestyle for a week, the festival also helps raise money for local nonprofit organizations. This year, funds will go to GleanSLO, an organization that partners with local farmers to harvest fruits and vegetables that might otherwise go to waste. Once harvested, the produce helps support the Food Bank to provide for families in need.

Get in on the fun and help support a good cause. Here's what's on the agenda:

Movies at the Historic Freemont Theater: Relax and enjoy big waves on the big screen. The two films showing at this year’s festival are Mute (featuring Central Coast native surfer, Nate Tyler) and Fisherman’s Son.

Wine, Food, and Song in Pismo Beach: Head to the Cliffs Resort in Pismo Beach for a festival featuring local wineries, breweries, food, and music—all overlooking the spectacular surf.

The 805 Surf Classic Competition:Grab a cup of coffee and spend the morning watching the surfers take to the water and compete for prizes and bragging rights.

Winemakers Dinner: A quartet of local chefs come together to cook up the perfect dishes to pair with local wines. The event takes place at Sycamore Mineral Springs and Spa.

Living in San Luis Obispo, or the surrounding beach communities of Avila or Pismo Beach, or up the coast in Morro Bay, Cayucos, or Cambria is a great way to enjoy the surfer lifestyle all year round. Finding your dream home is as easy as signing up for a hyper-localized property search and working with a Realtor® who knows California’s Central Coast.
