Holiday Decorating Safety Tips

Holiday Decorating Safety Tips

Decking the halls and putting up your holiday lights this Thanksgiving week-end? Prevent the holiday festivities turning into a holiday tragedy by planning your decorating with safety in mind!

Fires and electrical accidents tend to increase during the Winter holiday season, so holiday light strings need to be checked for frayed wiring, gaps in insulation and general condition. If in doubt, toss!

Be careful decorating with candles. They should never be left to burn indoors unattended! Perhaps consider the battery operated, flickering LED candles available at your local home improvement store instead?

Using a ladder to string your lights? Don't venture out there alone. Have someone help you, even if they are just there to hold the ladder steady and prevent a fall.

And let's not forget our furry friends. If you have dogs or cats, tinsel or any string like decoration can be deadly if it is ingested and it causes a linear foreign body. For more details on this
