Speaking to a lender and getting pre-qualified is probably one of the most critical first steps you can take when preparing to buy or refinance your home. Its a pretty basic list of items needed but the sooner you start putting it together the sooner you lender can either get you pre-qualified or help with a plan to get you qualified at the best rate. Here is the list of paperwork to gather together:
Copies of your federal tax returns ( 1040’s) with all pages and schedules for 2014 and 2015 along with the W2’s and 1099’s for those same years.
Copies of 2 months bank statements and investment/retirement accounts. The copies need to include all pages even if advertising or other junk appears on them.
Copy of drivers license.
Copy of Social Security Cards or Passport
Copy of the most recent mortgage payment statement
Copy of insurance declarations page that shows the premium amount and the renewal dates.
